No bail for man charged over house fire

A man has been charged following a suspicious house fire on Colches St, Casino at 2am today, Friday, May 20.

When Fire and Rescue NSW attended the fire, the home was well alight.

The fire was extinguished around 3am with the house sustaining significant structural damage.

The house was unoccupied at the time and there were no reports of injuries.

Richmond Police District officers started their inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A crime scene was established which was forensically examined by specialist police.

A short time later, an 18-year-old man was arrested on Colches St and taken to Casino Police Station where he was charged with damage to the property by fire and explosion.

The Casino man was refused bail and is due to appear before Casino Local Court today.
