More overtaking lanes planned for Bruxner Highway

Any improvement to the Bruxner Highway between Lismore and Casino will be welcomed by drivers.

The road has several sections under repair because of flood damage.

Transport for NSW has plans to improve traffic flow on the busy road that has 9000 cars and trucks using it every day.

“Traffic volumes on this 30-kilometre section of road are increasing,” a Transport for NSW representative said.

“One of the issues identified is a lack of overtaking opportunities.

“To address this, we are planning to install one eastbound and one westbound overtaking lane between Fig Tree and Richardsons lanes, providing the first section of dual carriageway between these two regional centres.”

The project is still in the planning stage and no construction time frame or budget has been set.
