Evans Head Library has been well and truly transformed.
Regional library manager Gary Ellem welcomed guests to the official opening of the library in the heart of Evans Head.
In January this year, the books and equipment were temporarily moved to the Visitors Information Centre while the library underwent a makeover.
Mr Ellem is thrilled with the wooden lifeboat hanging from the ceiling.
The boat was found in a shed at the park and was restored to be the centrepiece of the library.
At the opening was Cheryl Walters who worked at the library in Casino for 38 years.
Former mayor David Parkinson attended and was impressed with the changes made.
“It’s quite wonderful,” he said.
State MP Chris Gulaptis said 70% of the Evans Head community and surrounds were members of the library which indicated how important it was.
The upgrade was funded by $400,000 from the State Government and $480,000 from Richmond Valley Council.
