253 public schools closed last week because of the weather Cyclone Alfred brought to the region.
170 schools have now been assessed for safety and will reopen tomorrow Tuesday, March 11, and that tally is being updated constantly.
Some schools will remain closed while further clean-up work takes place.
As the Department carries out its safety assessments, some damage to schools has been reported, along with many instances of fallen trees.
Check with your child’s school to confirm when the school will reopen.
Catholic and independent schools and early learning centres are also expected to be carrying out similar assessments, and families should check the department or local school websites for further information.Â
St Joseph’s Primary School in Woodburn will not open tomorrow, Tuesday, March 11. The school will advise parents when it is safe for students to return.
