Residents reported seeing the Westpac Rescue Helicopter in the sky over Grevillia multiple times on Monday, August 19.
Here’s what happened.
At 5pm on Monday, August 19, a Westpac Rescue Helicopter flew to Legume, northeast of Tenterfield, to assist a man having a serious medical episode.
The man was stabilised by paramedics before he was taken to Woodenbong to meet the helicopter. The patient was treated by the helicopter’s critical care medical team and then flown to Lismore Base Hospital.
That was the only rescue mission by the rescue helicopter on August 19.
“It’s likely the flight path of the aircraft from base to scene would have been over Grevillia,” a spokesperson said.
“There was a crew change during this mission with the aircraft returning to base and then back to the scene.
“This would explain the ‘multiple’ reports of the aircraft in the area.”
