Casino VRA Rescue has been on the scene for a few animal rescues recently.
There was the dog stuck under a fallen tree at Spring Grove on January 28 and today, Monday, February 17 it was a kookaburra that needed rescuing.
At 11:20 today, VRA Rescue NSW Region North operations manager Paul Cowles was flagged down by some people on Barker Street, Casino, opposite the Cassino Gallery where a kookaburra had become trapped in wire fencing between two fences.
Mr Cowles reported the situation and contacted a local WIRES bird handler to assist in rescuing the bird.
Once freed, the kookaburra was handed over to WIRES for assessment and treatment.
Later in the day, despite some dehydration, the kookaburra was in good health and was released back near the location where it was found ready to laugh at the world again – like only a kookaburra can.
