Before you know it, Christmas will be over and we’ll be getting ready for Australia Day 2023.

Next year Australia Day celebrations will be held at Woodburn.

Right now though, Richmond Valley Council wants your nominations for the 2023 Australia Day Award nominations.

There are six categories: Citizen and Young Citizen of the Year; Volunteer and Young Volunteer of the Year; and Sportsperson and Young Sportsperson of the Year.

Nominees must reside within the Richmond Valley LGA.

Mayor Robert Mustow said many locals continued their goodwill despite the extraordinary challenges caused by the global pandemic and more recently, the catastrophic floods in February.

“Our local area is fortunate to have so many fantastic, selfless people who volunteer and give back to the community rain, hail or shine,” Cr Mustow said.

“Whether it’s a local community group, sporting club or your neighbour, please think about nominating them for an Australia Day award.”

Nominations close 5pm on Thursday, December 15.

You can nominate as many people as you wish on this online form.
