NRLX: Cows reach top price of $3,620

Due to further torrential rainfall and flooding in the region, agents yarded a small total of 143 head at the Northern Rivers Livestock Exchange regular prime sale on Wednesday, March 30. Although only a handful of buyers were in attendance, prices remained strong.

Cow prices averaged 319.2c/kg and reached a top price of 380.2c/kg.

Heifers averaged 598.4c/kg and topped their category at 810.2c/kg.

Steers averaged 615.8c/kg and top price of 764.2c/kg.

A small number of bullocks sold on the day averaged 406.2c/kg.

Vealers saw an average of 550.3c/kg and top price of 632.2c/kg.

T&W McCormack and Ramsey & Bulmer held a joint store sale on Friday, April 1 with 1,010 quality cattle going under the hammer despite limited property access in the region.

Steers topped their category at 892.2c/kg and averaged 670.8c/kg and 280kg and heifers reached a top of 852.2c/kg and averaged 729.0c/kg and 228kg.

Cows reached a top price of $3,620 and Cows & Calves topped their market at $3,140.

George & Fuhrmann held a breeder sale on Saturday 2 April with 203 F1 Brahman heifers sold on the day.

All heifers, sold by P & J Grazing of Mallanganee, were PTIC to an Angus bull.

The top price went to a pen of nine for $4,360 per head with an overall average of $3,973.

This week Ian Weir & Son will hold a store and prime sale on Thursday, April 7 from 9am and George & Fuhrmann will hold a store sale on Friday, April 8 from 10am. Further bookings are welcome.
