How do I talk to my child about the floods? How do I understand how they are feeling?
Free online sessions run by headspace for Richmond Valley, Wardell and Kyogle will give parents practical advice to support young people after natural disasters.
Following the webinar, all those who register will be get a digital pack of information to help continue the conversation at home.
Headspace schools and communities head Kristen Douglas said young people were especially vulnerable to the mental health consequences of natural disasters.
“Some young people will be experiencing sadness, anxiety or confusion. Others might be feeling numb and disconnected,” Ms Douglas said.
“These are normal reactions to not normal events.”
