Kyogle, Lismore City and Tweed Shire councils will receive funding as part of the State Government’s $14.65million Open Streets Program.
State MP Janelle Saffin said the Open Streets Program supports councils to temporarily close streets to deliver free events for locals and visitors over the next three years.
Kyogle Council gets $79,500 for the Kyogle Civic Heart Precinct Activation.
This includes expanding and improving the farmers market through a temporary closure of Stratheden Street to expand the number of stallholders, encourage outdoor dining at two cafes, and a program of regular live music, to increase visitor numbers.
Lismore City Council receives more than $292,000 for Eat the Street.
$350,000 goes to Tweed Shire Council for Local Streets Alive.
