Our top five for Beef Week Saturday – what’s your favourite?

Brenda Armfield will lead the street parade on Saturday.

Beef Week Saturday is a big one. Bring the family to Casino for the day. There is so much to see and do – here is the Indynr.com top five for the day.

#1 The Brenda Armfield Street Parade at 1.45pm Walker Street

If you live in Casino, you will know and have heard Brenda Armfield in her bright green Moke driving around town spruiking Beef Week through her loud hailer. Brenda will lead the street parade along Walker Street. The parade is full of fun, school children and lots of displays.

#2 Bush Poets at 10am, Charcoal Inn Hotel

The bush poets always draw a crowd. Get there early so you get a table and can order something to eat and drink before the poets start.

#3 Youth Art Exhibition at 10am–3pm, Cassino Art Gallery

Casino has its own art gallery and they do so many activities to include everyone. Check out the youth art created especially for Beef Week. The gallery is at the river end of Barker Street.

#4 Whip Cracking Comp at 10.30am–12.30pm Walker Street, northern end

The comp is entertaining to watch. Cracking a whip is a lot harder to do than it looks. See juniors and adults flex their whip skills. Always a crowd favourite.

#5 Mr Beef at 4.30pm, Casino RSM

With a $1000 prize, the men will be lining up for this one. See contenders dance, entertain, and lose a few items of clothing in the bid to be crowned Mr Beef. If you’ve never been before, prepare yourself for a lot of excitement.

Also on Beef Week Saturday: Orchid Show, Stud ring, Jillaroo and Jackaroo, Airtime FMX, Horse Demonstration, Pie-eatingcomp, Rainforest Rattler train rides, farmers market, markets in the CBD, and live music in just about every pub in Casino.

The full program is here so you can plan your day.
