NAIDOC Week celebrations kicked off with a flag-raising, march and fun day in Casino this week hosted by Richmond Valley Council.
Many schools celebrated NAIDOC Week last week before the school holidays including Casino High School which had Cody Walker and Jon Bell as guest speakers. Read that story here.
Today, there was a celebration at the Coraki Youth Hall and tomorrow, Thursday, NAIDOC activities will be held at the riverfront playground, Evans Head from 11am.
NAIDOC Week is held across the country from July 7–14 to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
This year’s theme chosen by the National NAIDOC Committee, is Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud & Proud.
