PHOTOS: Christmas comes early to flood hub

The Woodburn Hub at McGeary’s Shed has been an important fixture since the February-March floods offering a safe place for residents to go for support.

Yesterday, Saturday, November 5, the hub had a special visitor.

Santa and Ms Claus came all the way to Woodburn with help from the Oatley Lions Club, Lennox Head Lions Club and Woodburn SES.

Organiser Lauren Heath said the whole day was free for families.

There was Faeya Flow entertainment doing bubbles, hula hooping, children’s games and face painting.

There was the popular Old McDonald’s travelling farm and Santa arrived on the Woodburn RFS truck.

Lennox Lions Club cooked up a barbecue

The Oatley Lions Club from Sydney visited Woodburn earlier this year and wanted to do something for the families there, Lauren said.

The Mid Richmond Neighbourhood Centre, SES and RFS were happy to be involved too, Lauren said.

“Our intention is to have many more fun times and days in this magical space of ours, we hope this kicked off your Christmas season with a bang, keep posted for what’s next leading up to the end of the year,” she said.

Here are some photos from the day. The first six are by Lauren Heath and the rest were sent in by Kelly Hayman.
