Playgroup in the Blue Hall invites mums, dads and kids to join

Casino Playgroup is more for mums than the kids, coordinator Jade Popp said.
Although the children have a great time.
Every Tuesday at 10am, the children and their mum or dad and sometimes grandma, play together for two hours at the Blue Hall in Pratt St.
This Tuesday they were making Christmas tree decorations out of popsicle sticks and shiny, silver jewel stickers.
The four mothers sat at the table with the children and helped when help was needed as they chatted to each other.
Jade has been running the playgroup for five years.

The group started in 1976 and the hall they use is owned by Richmond Valley Council.
Last year, through a grant they were able to fit solar panels.
Jade has four children and her youngest sits happily at the table making the decorations.
“At playgroup they make new friends,” Jade said.
The children learn about sharing, she said and laughed because it was a big lesson for the toddlers.
“As a mum, I like seeing the kids run around,” she said.
“I like talking to other mums about life and kids.”
One mother comes from Lismore every week to join the playgroup.

It cost $2 a session and tea, coffee and biscuits are provided.
Jade is keen to have more parents and children aged 0-5 years join the playgroup.
