Children pick strawberries and play in the sandpit at Drake School’s supported playgroup every Wednesday.

Playgroup coordinator Susan Heywood runs the sessions supported by the Tenterfield Social Development Committee.

The playgroup has been going in Drake since the 1980s, Ms Heywood said.

It used to run at the Drake Hall but moved to the school earlier this year.

“There are mums and dads who came here and now they are back with their own children,” she said.

“We still have some of the books from 20 years ago.”

The move to Drake Public School means the playgroup doesn’t have to pack everything up each week.

They have their own building with air con and a kitchen, Ms Heywood said.

And the children have use of the garden and playground at the school.

The playgroup operates one day a week, every Wednesday from 10.30am–12.30pm.

It is free and open to babies and children up to 4 years. Children attend with their parents.

Find out more on the playgroup’s Facebook page or call the school on 6737 6677.
