In January 2023, the new playground at Crawford Square in Casino was officially opened.

It’s been a hit with children with its colourful cow motifs and the height of the slide.

The one issue parents had when it opened was the lack of shade.

That’s about to be fixed with Richmond Valley Council announcing seven shade sails for Crawford Square.

“This will keep kids safe from the sun and parents can find a shady spot as well,” Mr Williamson said.

The State Government contributed $30,000 towards the cost of the sails through a Community Building Partnership.

“Council will be topping that up with $125,000,” Mr Mustow said.

Come summer, the shade will be welcomed by families who use the playpark.
