Police charge 4 boys with break-in offences

Four boys are facing multiple charges over alleged aggravated break-in in Casino this morning, Monday, January 30.

Police arrested the boys while investigating reports that homes in Barling and Sheppard streets had been broken into.

People had been seen trespassing in Fairway Drive between 3.30–5.30am on Monday January 30.

Police arrested four boys – aged 13, 14, 14 and 15.

Two, aged 14 and 15, have each been charged with 13 offences.

The charges were:

• Aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence – people present

• Aggravated break and enter with intent in company

• Aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence (two counts)

• Enter enclosed land without lawful excuse (five counts)

• Steal property in dwelling (two counts)

• Destroy or damage property, and

• Take and drive conveyance without consent.

The two boys have been refused bail and will appear in a children’s court on Tuesday, January 31.

The two other boys will be dealt with under the Young Offenders Act.

Inquiries are continuing into the identity of a fifth boy.
