Fatal stabbing at KFC brawl – police comment

Outside the Casino Police Station Superintendent Scott Tanner spoke about the fatal stabbing in Casino yesterday.

About 20 people were involved in the brawl at the KFC fast food restaurant car park on Centre St, Casino.

Police arrived at 5.16pm. The ambulance were already there, Supt Tanner said.

The ambulance station is across the road from KFC and a crew went there before the triple zero call was received.

“Police were there within minutes,” Supt Tanner said.

“A number of persons were still on the scene and police have spoken with them.”

Others involved in the brawl had fled and police were seeking these people.

The 17 year old who allegedly stabbed another teen who died at the scene had fled.

Two other men were wounded. One was flown to Lismore Base Hospital in a serious condition and the other has been released from hospital.

At 7.30pm that night, Sunday May 29, a 17 year old was found at a house in Diary St and was taken into custody by police.

Supt Tanner warned people against escalating the incident.

“If anyone is involved or thinking about becoming involved in the melee, we ask them to think twice. If anyone has any information contact police.”

The 17 year old will apppear in Casino Children’s Court today, Monday, May 30.
