Police seek dashcam footage of fatal crash on Bruxner Highway

A woman believed to be in her 50s has died in a crash involving a truck and a car on the Bruxner Highway, south west of Lismore.

The Bruxner Highway  at South Gundurimba was closed in both directions from 12.30pm with diversions at Caniaba and Coraki roads.

If you’re travelling south you’ll be diverted via Caniaba Road and Spring Grove Rd to Casino where you can rejoin the Bruxner Highway.

The northbound diversion is via Coraki Road, Whyralla Ferry Rd and Whyralla Road to Lismore.

These diversions are suitable for heavy vehicles except B-doubles.

Emergency services were called to the Bruxner Highway at Loftville near South Gundurimba, about 7km south west of Lismore, after a southbound Mazda2 hatchback and a northbound truck and trailer collided head on.

Police tried to resuscitate the female car driver but she died at the scene.

The truck driver was treated by paramedics for minor injuries, before he was taken to Lismore Base Hospital for mandatory testing.

A third vehicle – a Mazda CX-7 also travelling south – sustained minor damage as a result of the crash but the driver was not injured.

Police have established a crime scene and have begun an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. Police are appealing for witnesses or dashcam vision of the crash.
