Police shoot armed man at Tenterfield Station

Police shot an armed man in Tenterfield today, Thursday, January 19 at about 5.45pm.

A 48 year old man went to Tenterfield Police Station and pointed a gun at officers.

He was shot by police.

Despite the efforts of responding police and paramedics, the man died at the scene.

A critical incident team from State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad will investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident including the discharge of a police firearm.

That investigation will be subject to independent review.
