Four people faced court today, after police uncovered more than $40million worth of cannabis inside industrial grow houses at a remote property, 20km from Casino.

Earlier this year, police were investigating the cultivation and supply of cannabis across the state’s north coast.

Police say the Ellangowan property was being used for the large-scale cultivation of cannabis.

Detectives searched the property at 6am yesterday, Friday, November 4.

They were assisted by the tactical operations team, the dog unit and police rescue.

Investigators seized 8388 cannabis plants with an estimated street value of $40million.

Six men – aged between 33 and 52 – were arrested during the operation and taken to Casino Police Station.

Two of the men have since been released pending further inquiries.

Four men aged 33, 43, 49 and 52 have been charged with cultivating a prohibited plant of more than a large commercial quantity and participating in a criminal group.

They were refused bail to appear at Lismore Bail Court today, Saturday, November 5.
