Here’s the SES advice for residents in these areas:

Bungawalbin

Residents have been told to prepare to isolate for several days. The SES said roads and bridges are likely to be cut off as the Richmond River continues to rise.

Coraki

The Richmond River is likely to peak at about 4.5m at 11am tomorrow, Tuesday, October 25. This is predicted to be a minor flooding event.

People in Richmond Terrace and low-lying areas should monitor the situation and be prepared to evacuate if instructed to do so by NSW SES.

Coraki Caravan Park has been evacuated and the septic has been turned off to ensure community safety.

The video below shows the river at 4.50pm today, Monday, October 24.

Woodburn and Broadwater

The SES have confirmed Broadwater and Woodburn appear to be safe from any flooding threat.

The Woodburn Hub staff had a meeting with the SES today. This is the information from that meeting

“The SES has drones currently being put up above Bungawalbin and Coraki to assess the levee and isolated flooding.

“There are eight high clearance ADF vehicles being deployed to Bungawalbin and Coraki conducting reconnaissance and community communication to ensure preparedness and aiding in precautionary evacuation.

“There has recently been a new ruling which has seen the SES and Marine Rescue join forces in aiding one another through disaster, for Woodburn this means there will be a Marine Rescue watercraft deployed onto the Richmond River with SES and Marine Rescue personnel onboard doing intel to gain a deeper understanding of the current situation of the river as it unfolds.

“We can expect the rivers to swell further as the water makes its way downstream from Lismore in the next 24 hours.

“We are told this is not a concern for breaking our banks here in town and we are very unlikely to see the effects of that here.”
