For 41 years Primex Field Days has been held at Casino — but now it is moving.
Primex director Bruce Wright announced they were changing locations and moving to Lismore.
“This isn’t just about changing locations, this is about backing a community that’s backing us,” Mr Wright said.
“Lismore’s post-disaster recovery story aligns perfectly with Primex’s evolution. We’re not leaving our community behind, we’re leading it forward to where we can deliver the best outcomes for our farming and rural communities.”
Next year’s Primex will be on May 21—23 at Lismore Showgrounds which is undergoing a $4.7million upgrade.
Showgrounds president John Gibson said, “We’ve long believed Primex belongs in Lismore.”
Lismore mayor Steve Krieg said events like Primex bring people to Lismore who spend money at local businesses.
Past Primex exhibitors were sent a letter informing them of the move.
“After more than 40 years at Casino in the Richmond Valley and extended efforts to secure a sustainable future there, our focus is now firmly on building the next chapter in a region that shares our vision,” Mr Wright said in the letter.
Where does that leave Casino?
IndyNR.com tried to contact Mr Wright to ask what was behind the move. We also asked for a comment from Richmond Valley Council general manager and mayor.
Is Lismore really a better place for Primex?
According to Mr Wright, Lismore offers the appropriate logistics, accommodation, and transport options for the 80% of attendees who travel more than 50km to reach Primex.
“We’ve long believed Primex belongs in Lismore,” he said.
Primex moved its date for the field days a few years ago to align with Casino Beef Week.
