The cattle branding board at the Woodenbong Hotel is full — it bears the brands of local beef producers from long ago.
Staff member John Reilly and the blokes sitting at the bar can’t remember how long the board has been there.
On June 13 a new board will go up next to the old one. The date for this has now changed to September and the exact date will be advised.
Local Michael Smith said it will be cut from a piece of ironbark and mounted on the wall.
Farmers can register to have their brand burned into the timber.
Any local producers that call Woodenbong home are invited, Mr Smith said.
He said he’d like to see the new farmers and families who have moved into the area put their brand on the board.
There will be a tag with each brand so generations to come know what farm the brand is from.
There will be a small fee charged to get the tag made, Mr O’Reilly said.
