School teacher Megan Boyd from Evans Head, who has lived and worked in the local area for more than 40 years, is the new president at the Evans Head Living Museum.
She takes on the role from Ron Follers.
“It is important to acknowledge the hard work of the many volunteers and supporters of the Evans Head Living Museum over the past 23 years that have enabled us to become what it is today, recording an amazing collection of our important and unique history,” Megan said.
Megan said the museum would be focused on attracting new members, as advised by Museum and Galleries NSW.
“It is important to remember that we need each other to continue to work collaboratively to ensure the stories of people like Marg Henderson, Sir Valston-Hancock, Jean Haughton-James, Evans Paddon, Ted Sly, Sheila Manley and Volney George McInnes and so many others whose important stories are not lost or forgotten,” Megan said.
“Our future needs younger people to be proud of our histories and with initial recent consultation with the Evans River Community K-12 School already expressing an interest in building relationships with us, and partnering in community service, work experience and special projects.”
The Museum is open on Wednesday, Thursday and Fridays at 10am–1pm.
