The Evans Head Scout Hall is no longer used by Scouts — it is now home to the local playgroup and is used for community events. It is also available for private hire.
A State Government Community Building Partnerships grant of $24,695 for the Scout Hall was announced today, Friday, September 12.
State MP Richie Williamson said the funding will allow for important renovations and upgrades to the hall and playgroup space, including the removal of unsafe infrastructure, installation of a new garden shed, improvements to playground equipment, and levelling and re-turfing of the play area.
Mid Richmond Neighbourhood Centre general manager Rachel McNaught said the upgrades will strengthen the sense of connection in Evans Head.
“Upgrading the Scout Hall playgroup space will ensure local families, children and volunteers have a safe, welcoming and engaging environment to come together,” Ms McNaught said.
The Evans Head Scout Hall project is one of 22 across the Clarence and Richmond Valleys to share in more than $400,000 in funding through the Community Building Partnerships program this year.
