Some roads in Swan Bay, Broadwater and Bungawalbin have new names.
Richmond Valley Council has formally adopted the new road names:
Paddon St, Essex St and York Lane in Broadwater
Ginibi Drive, Minjehla Rd and Yelgun Rd in Swan Bay
Patch Lane in Bungawalbin
Before roads are formally named, the public are asked for submissions.

The council received two other submissions for Patch Lane. They were Trustums Lane and Old Post Office Lane but those submissions were rejected by the NSW Geographical Names Board because of duplication.
The new roads needing names in Broadwater were because of a new subdivision.

The council was considering one road being called Snowy Burns Rd after a world professional sculling champion connected to the area but the names board rejected the idea.
The new names for Swan Bay came about because of a subdivision off Reardons Lane.

The developer requested a preference for indigenous names using local language.
The Bandjalang Aboriginal Corporation presented Ginibi, Minjehla and Yelgun meaning swan, happy-smiling and sun respectively.
New roads, pothole free. Enjoy the ride.
