Rebecca Malsem is on the radio – “Can you please put us back online?” she says.

“Copy that Tabulam 1,” is the reply. “Welcome Tabulam SES.”

Ms Malsem is the new unit commander for Tabulam SES and she was communicating with SES Headquarters.

The Tabulam SES Unit was closed for three years because of a lack of members.

SES celebrates the reopening of the Tabulam SES.

Tonight, Wednesday, June 5, SES officials and Kyogle deputy mayor Tom Cooper joined Urbenville SES members, NSW Ambulance and the seven new Tabulam members for a meal at the Tabulam SES building on the Bruxner Highway.

SES zone commander chief superintendent Greg Swindells said it was a “big achievement for all involved.”

SES Chief inspector Hayden Doolan said Ms Malsem was “voluntold” for the commander position at Tabulam.

Deputy mayor Tom Cooper, chief superintendent Greg Swindells and chief inspector Hayden Doolan give speeches at Tabulam SES unit.

Mr Swindells said the cluster of Kyogle, Tabulam and Casino units supported each other.

“Some former members were looking to come back,” he said.

Mr Doolan said open days and engaging with the community over some time was part of the process of reopening the Tabulam SES unit.
