Members of the Northern Co-operative Meat Company Limited in Casino have voted in favour of converting the co-operative into an unlisted public company.
More than 75% of members voted in favour of the change.
Since 1933, NCMC has operated as a co-operative. Soon it will be operating under its new name – Casino Food Company Limited.
The company rebranding will include a refreshed logo aligned with the production of ‘food’.
Chairman John Seccombe said the change was needed because of the evolving livestock industry.
NCMC chief executive Simon Stahl said it was a “significant moment in our history.”
“We will continue to operate with the same principles and values that have guided the Cooperative for over nine decades,” he said.
Casino Food Company Limited will maintain its current operations and members will continue their shareholder status.
The transition process involves registration with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission and the de-registration of the co-operative, expected to be complete by late February next year.
