Six times giant pumpkin champ Dale Oliver isn’t entering Kyogle’s Giant Pumpkin comp on Saturday.

The Knockrow farmer would like to see someone else win this year.

Dale is donating a pumpkin for the Guess the Weight competition and his pumpkin is at the Harley & Co store from today.

The pumpkin growing season hasn’t been kind to pumpkins. It’s been too wet.

“There’s not many pumpkins around,” Dale said. “The guys in Queensland have lost them.”

John Leadbeatter is hoping his pumpkin holds together until Saturday so he can display it in Stratheden St.

The main day for the Summerland Giant Pumpkin and Watermelon Festival is on Saturday, January 15. Winners of all giant vegetable categories will be announced from 11am in Stratheden St.

The organising committee have a final meeting tomorrow night to check the event is going ahead given the current covid situation.
