Staff at Bonalbo MPS pitched in and nominated the entire workforce for a Stellar Award – and they won.

Nursing Assistant at Casino and Bonalbo Veverly Villapando said, “The team of Bonalbo demonstrates care, and compassion with residents and patients giving our personal touch to all.”

“We always work together no matter the role – from RN, EN, AIN, activities officer, hotel services and admin,” she said.

It sounds like the staff has fun while working too.

“Our residents loved that we just break out and start singing or dancing giving them a floor show, creating a very happy family environment. Residents often comment how much they enjoy the atmosphere here,” Ms Villapando said.

In the application for the award, Bonalbo MPS gave an example of their nursing.

They cited the recent example of a palliative care patient.

“The patient was deteriorating and requiring ongoing assessment of his swallowing and mobility as well as general nursing.

“Hotel services assessed and provided tasty and appropriate meals to accommodate his needs. Because the family didn’t live locally, they also did his laundry and provided cheery and happy respite daily.

To round off, the whole Bonalbo team works together to provide excellent, holistic patient care, Ms Villapando said.

“We all work together as a great team.”
