Five Casino SES members put up their hands to help the Queensland SES during the storms last week.

SES chief inspector Hayden Doolan said Queensland had requested assistance from NSW.

With many units busy with storms locally, especially the Urbenville SES unit, Casino unit members Karen Rea, Mark Davenport, Tanika Phillips, Tianna Isaacs and Laurence Benn made themselves available to help out across the border.

They assisted with roofs and other storm damage at Pimpama and Tamborine Mountain.

“It shows the spirit of the SES,´ Mr Doolan said.

“Urbenville SES did an amazing job too – it was like a mini cyclone out there, houses and caravans lost roofs.”

With more storms on the way, Mr Doolan advised people to secure their properties.

He reminded people to secure outdoor furniture as it can blow into a neighbours property and cause damage.
