Stan Payne Oval in Evans Head will get new lighting with $200,000 funding from the State Government.
The upgrade includes 41 new floodlights and four 32m galvanised steel lighting poles.
The funding means local footy, cricket, tennis, and touch football can be played safely under lights, even during poor weather or shorter winter days.
State MP Richie Williamson said it was a big win for Evans Head.
“Stan Payne Oval is the beating heart of local sport, and this upgrade will make a real difference for players, spectators, and the broader community,” Mr Williamson said.
Richmond Valley mayor Robert Mustow said it was good to know all fields at Stan Payne could be used at night.
