The NRLX at Casino penned 1602 mixed cattle made up principally of weaners with many mixed grade cows.
The well-conditioned and good quality weaners presented well and trends improved considerably for those categories.
Steers sold well. Heifers on the other hand were much dearer in comparison. The usual buyers attended and sent large numbers of weaners north of the border as well as to New England.
Steer weaners to restockers were 222c to 448c/kg with some standout pens selling for 444c/kg.
Heifers also sold to much dearer trends at 210c to 368c/kg.
Steer weaners carrying extra weight went into the feedlot at 250c to 320c/kg.
Medium weight yearling steers sent to feed on made 320c/kg and heifers of a similar weight also went to feed at 272c to 300c/kg.
Grown steers in excess of 750kgs and well finished sold to 305c/kg.
The heifer portion made 231c to 313c/kg.
Medium restocker cows were dearer 212c to 245c/kg the same weight cows to process made up to 282.
Heavy cows were up to 12c/kg dearer selling 280c to 305c/kg while heavy bulls sold to 280c/kg.
