Students from St Joseph’s Catholic School in Coraki invited soldiers from the 1st Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment to their temporary school at Alstonville to surprise them with special thank-you notes.
At the height of the floods in the Northern Rivers, some students were rescued by the Australian Defence Force.
The soldiers gave students the opportunity to experience an Army Bushmaster Protected Military Vehicle.
