New Italy has a new claim to fame besides its historical Italian museum.
It is the site of the second Tesla supercharger station in Australia but the first with such a large solar canopy.
The 12-bay supercharger station means more electric cars will stop at New Italy.
The New Italy installation is one of the very few EV fast chargers in Australia equipped with a solar canopy.
It is only the second one for Tesla, and the largest at 80 kW. 
The New Italy installation features a single charging bay suitable for EVs towing trailers, boats and caravans.
The Sydney to Brisbane route will have EV stations at Heatherbrae, Raymond Terrace, Port Macquarie, Coffs Harbour, Harwood, Knockrow and Tweed Heads, with several more planned for southern Queensland.
The latest and biggest fast charging site, with a 20-stall supercharger site, is in the works at Goulburn.
