A teenager has been charged and another remains in hospital after a crash into the front yard of a house on West Street, Casino. Read more about the crash here.
Between 1am and 3.30am on Saturday, January 25, a unit on Barker Street, Casino, was broken into and a Honda hatchback was taken from the home.
A short time later at 4.10am, police attempted to stop the hatchback in Casino.
When it failed to stop, police chased the hatchback through Casino until the car crashed into a motorhome in the front yard of a West Street home.
The driver – a 16 year old boy – was taken to Lismore Base Hospital and the passenger – a 13 year old boy – was airlifted to Gold Coast University Hospital where he remains in a serious condition.
The older boy was charged with police pursuit – not stopping – driving dangerously, negligent driving (occasioning grievous bodily harm), never licensed, driving without the consent of the owner and other charges.
He was refused bail and faced children’s court via video link today, Sunday, January 26.
