Here’s the challenge – you’re given $20 to use to raise as much money as possible for your chosen charity.

Year 9 and 10 commerce students from Casino High School recently completed the $20 Boss challenge sponsored by the National Australian Bank.

Each student was given $20 to use individually or as a group. The challenge was to produce a product which could be sold to raise money for a charity.

The students’ collective chose charities Dolly’s Dream and Headspace.

Students had to come up with a marketing plan to pitch their business idea to  principal Daniel Moar in a Shark Tank-style presentation.

The students then sourced supplies locally and created their products. The products were sold at a market day at school.

Teacher Latitia McCormack said there were good vibes in the school on market day.

“The products ranged from tie dyed socks, cup cakes, biscuits, ice-cups, sausage sandwiches, mixed lollies and homemade ice creams,” Ms McCormack.

“The students thrived and I would like to congratulate them all on their success. I’m proud of each and every one of them and how they conducted themselves on the day.

“These are the moments as teachers that we cherish, watching our students shine, working collaboratively and seeing their hard work come to fruition.”

The school thanked Richmond Bakeries (Kibbles Bakery) and Madsen Meats and Small Goods for donating sausages and bread for one of the stalls.
