The election is over so who will be sitting at the table in Richmond Valley Council?

Susanna Freymark

What will the new Richmond Valley Council look like once all the votes are in?

IndyNR.com can only make a prediction based on the current trends but with 13,135 votes counted out of a possible 16,721, there are some clear winners.

Some of the councillor positions remain unknown until preferences, below the line votes and postal votes are factored in.

The distribution of preferences will be conducted in the third week after election day.

This is our prediction – it has not been confirmed by the NSW Electoral Commission.

Richmond Valley mayor is Robert Mustow with 47.78% of the votes.

That leaves six councillor positions – John Walker, Lyndall Murray, Steve Morrissey and Sandra Humphrys are in.

Morrissey and Humprhys are on the Group D Mustow ticket and benefit from the Mustow votes.

The final two councillor positions are harder to predict – it’s between Robert Hayes, Stuart George (Walker group), Sam Cornish (Mustow group) and unlikely but not ruled out is Bianca Rayner (Murray group).

The group votes at 4.30pm yesterday, Monday, September 16 were:

Group A John Walker: 1964

Group B Rob Hayes: 1112

Group C Lyndall Murray: 1843

Group D Robert Mustow: 4364

Pre-polls for Casino and Evans Head have been counted.

IndyNR.com will publish the official result as soon as it is announced by the NSW Electoral Commission.
