The Green Team from Evans River K-12 School delivered a mud kitchen to Coraki Public School on Friday, August 23.

The kitchen is made out of salvaged old pallets and students from the Green Team fitted a pump tap, chalkboard, shelves and play oven and connected the plumbing.

This means the primary school students can use water to make mud to ‘play cook’ in their new playground kitchen.

Teacher Craig Gillespie said some of the Green Team students went to Coraki School when they were younger.

Everything in the kitchen is made out of recycled materials including old pallets, Mr Gillespie said.

The Green Team was formed in 2007 and the 12 students spend one day a week developing working hands-on on projects.

“The kids love doing projects outside of school,” Mr Gillespie said.

The Green Team has worked on community projects such as a cubby house for Evans Head Preschool, the Nulingar Yaroon track and a sandstone yarning circle.
