The last timber bridge to be replaced on this road

Funding has come in for a damaged bridge at Myrtle Creek which means work can begin next Monday, July 18.

Richmond Valley Council has received funding from Transport for NSW under the Fixing Country Bridges Program to replace the last remaining timber bridge on Elliotts Rd.

The bridge is 12 kilometres off Summerland Way and 4 kilometres from Bungawalbin-Whiporie Road intersection.

It is damaged and has a restricted two-tonne load limit in place that makes it accessible to light vehicles only.

Work will start on Monday, July 18 and will take eight weeks,  Work hours will be between 7am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.

The work will require the road to be closed to traffic in both directions for the duration of the project.
