Annie is on its way.

Rehearsals for the well known musical are under way in Kyogle.

Village Hall Players director Lynette Zito said the cast rehearses twice a week.

That’s 30 rehearsals to bring you the show.

It’s a big task for the cast of 30. Many play several parts to make up the 52 roles in the musical.

Ms Zito is thrilled to have discovered 10 year old Lietta McElligott who plays Annie.

Lietta McElligott plays Annie.

Lietta played the main character of Matilda in the musical Matilda at Casino Christian School.

Annie is quite different, she said.

“The Wormwoods in Matilda were mean,” Lietta said.

“Only three of the orphans are mean in Annie.”

Jasmine Phillips helps the cast with choreography,

And Ms Hannigan who runs the orphanage is pretty mean, played by comedian Odette Nettleton.

Lietta can sing, dance and act and hopes one day that her job is starring in musicals.

Ms Zito said she chose Annie because it is a simple show and “has a happy ending”.

Annie will be on stage at Kyogle Memorial Institute Hall on May 13–14.

Details about a September tour of Annie is still being finalised.
