Two more teens arrested in assault and robberies investigations

A further two teenagers have been arrested as part of investigations into multiple assaults and robberies in Evans Head and Ballina.

Between October 31 and November 12, five men – aged 77, 58, 53, 50 and 27 – were allegedly assaulted in separate incidents at Evans Head and Ballina.

All five required hospital treatment.

Police allege in each incident the man had arranged to meet a person he had been communicating with online.

After arriving at the agreed location, each man was allegedly confronted by a group of youths before being assaulted and robbed.

Four teenagers – aged between 16 and 17 – were arrested during a police operation last week.

Following further inquiries, police arrested a 17 year old girl in Alstonville yesterday, Monday, November 21. She was charged with wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Just after 11am, a 16-year-old boy went to Ballina Police Station and similar charges were laid.

Each was refused bail to appear at children’s court today, Tuesday, November 22.
