Two mystery local lads launch a cheeky t-shirt about Lions Rd

Two mystery ‘local lads’ have launched a unique t-shirt that only locals will understand.

Is the Lions Rd Open? t-shirts are for sale through The Leather Shop on Summerland Way in Kyogle.

The lads who have designed and launched the t-shirt want to stay anonymous and have asked The Leather Shop to stock the shirts. They can also be purchased online through their Friendly Yogles Facebook page.

“We prefer not to reveal our identities,” the team behind Friendly Yogles said.

“We are planning on making more shirts if this run goes well.

“We feel that Kyogle is a unique and friendly place, and at times – hilarious.”

The lads chatted to the administrator of the Is the Lions Road Open Facebook page, and they thought the ongoing joke in the community about Lions Rd being closed, open and closed again because of covid border restrictions was a great idea for their first t-shirt.

“We didn’t know how to do the business side of things, so the leather shop in town helped us with that,” the lads said.

“We have  a big list of ideas on other shirt designs that we are working on.  But we want to see if this first one goes well, I reckon it will – it’s just so Yogle, you know?”

The shirts are printed in Murwillumbah and are 100% cotton.

“We tried to make everything as local as possible,” they said.

“We’ll see how it goes, hopefully you will see more work by the Friendly Yogles soon.

The lads plan to keep their identities secret.

“I think being in a small community, the jokes are all of ours, not just ours.

“Plus, it’s more fun if we keep everyone guessing.”

And why the name?

“It is a term used affectionately; we feel.

“ We have Kyoglians, Kyogalites, Yogles.

“Friendly Yogles just fit with who we are, it is a bit tongue in cheek, and that’s what our shirts will be too.”

T-shirts cost $33 and you can order them here.
