Two new refuges offer safety

Two new refuges for people impacted by domestic violence will open in Clarence and Richmond Valley LGAs.

State MP Chris Gulaptis said the exact locations were confidential for obvious reasons.

“The refuges will be operated by a non-government organisation partner with experience in managing housing of this nature,” Mr Gulaptis said.

“These homes are about providing safe, private, and independent living spaces for victim survivors and their children.”

The two new refuges were among 39 being funded by the State Government.

Minister for Women’s Safety and the Prevention of Domestic Family and Sexual Violence Natalie Ward said the new refuges program followed trials in Orange and Griffith.
