Two teens, 14, injured as car hits tree, flips and lands on its roof

Emergency services were called to Clarence Way at Sandilands after reports of two people trapped in a car after it crashed at 4am, today, Wednesday, June 5.

Casino VRA Rescue Squad, Mallanganee Rural Fire Brigade, police, ambulance and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter all rushed to the car rollover.

When crews arrived, two teenage girls both aged 14, were out of the Mitsubishi Magna that had hit a tree and rolled through a fence before overturning onto its roof in a paddock.

The driver was flown to Royal Brisbane Children’s Hospital. She had serious leg and back injuries and was in a critical condition.

The other teenager was taken by ambulance to Lismore Base Hospital. She was in a stable condition with minor injuries.

The Bruxner Highway was closed at the Bonalbo turnoff for some time to allow the helicopter to land.

The car was checked to ensure it was safe from fire and fuel leaks by the RFS.
