Five Kyogle buyback houses are up for auction at 5pm tonight, Tuesday, June 17, at the Lismore Heights Bowling Club.
Last night, 10 houses were sold at auction ranging in price from $2,300 to $101,000.
There were 33 bidders.
Two of the buyback homes sold were from Woodburn (pictured above).
119 Richmond Street, Woodburn had an opening bid of $10,000 and eventually sold for $26,000.
The next Woodburn property at 97-99 Richmond Street sold for $4,153.
Why such a price difference?
PRD Real Estate Northern Rivers principal Rob Horder, who is selling the houses, said it was all about the condition and character of the home.
Both of these were a similar size, he said.
The smaller homes were easier to relocate he said because they only required one cut which equates to two loads on the back of a truck.
“You pay per load,” Mr Horder said.
A bigger home could require two cuts and three loads, making it more expensive to move.
Five Kyogle homes and houses from Murwillumbah are up for auction tonight at 5pm at Lismore Heights Bowling Club and the houses have no reserves.
The highest bidder gets the house.
Mr Horder said it was good to see these houses being relocated and rehomed.
“They’re character filled homes filled with solid hardwood,” he said.
To build a home using that kind of hardwood would be way more costly than relocating a buyback home, he said.
