VIDEO: Planes tackle grassfire as alert levels keep changing

The fire burning at Horseshoe Creek Road was downgraded from a Watch and Act alert to Advice and at 3pm today, Monday, October 16, the RFS advice went back to Watch and Act.

Firefighters have been tackling the fire burning between Horseshoe Creek Road, Homeleigh Road and Sargents Road, about 11km northeast of Kyogle.

A resident at Horseshoe Creek said planes were dropping fire retardant onto the slopes where the fire was burning.

The grassfire has burned 64 hectares.

There is a total fire ban in Kyogle, Clarence Valley, Richmond Valley, Lismore and Tenterfield LGAs today, Monday, October 16.

The fire at Bean Creek near Bonalbo and in Kyogle LGA has burned 797 hectares and has been upgraded to Watch and Act.
