More rain is coming. The forecast of widespread rain has forced the cancellation of many events including the Kyogle Show, Kyogle Bazaar and Woodburn Riverside Festival.
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a Flood Watch for many rivers including Wilsons and Richmond rivers.
There remains high levels of uncertainty in the timing and location of the heaviest falls, BOM said.
Minor flooding is predicted for Richmond River.
This Flood Watch means that people living or working along rivers and streams must monitor the latest weather forecasts and warnings and be ready to move to higher ground should flooding develop.
Tomorrow, Saturday, September 28 is when the weather system is expected to cause flooding in the Flood Watch areas.
It is a low pressure system developing offshore of the northeast coast causing the rain. The low pressure system will track close to the coast overnight, causing a vigorous south to southeasterly flow along the coast and into the Border Ranges.
Winds will increase overnight Friday into Saturday morning, before easing into Saturday evening as the low is forecast to move further offshore.
The winds are expected to average 60–70km along the northeast coast overnight into Saturday morning, with peak gusts of around 90 km expected on the coast as well as along the Border Ranges.
Winds are expected to ease by the late afternoon and early evening of Saturday.
