Village halls welcome funding for new doors, floors and kitchen upgrades

Mallanganee Memorial Hall has been painted recently in heritage colours.

Village halls at Mummulgum and Mallanganee and the bowling club at Urbenville will benefit from a portion of State Government funding of $450,000 across the Lismore Electorate.

Mallanganee Memorial Hall will receive $14,850 for big new doors.

Hall secretary Judithe Lovick-andrews has always disliked the roller door at the front of the hall.

The painting of the exterior of Mallanganee Hall was only recently completed.

“We had a heritage consultant come a couple of years ago and give advice,” Judithe said.

“We used heritage colours to repaint the hall.”

The 1912 memorial hall has a soldiers room and the outside was looking pretty shabby until the recent renovations.

The roller door doesn’t fit with the new paint job.

“We had Apex Building in Casino to give us a quote for a timber door,” Judith said.

“The heritage consultant in Grafton gave it the tick of approval.

“It will be happening as soon as builder has time.”

Thirteen organisations share $450,000 in funding under the NSW Government’s 2025 Community Building Partnership Program.
